Angeboten werden können auf der neuen, nicht für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglichen Plattform "Online Book Auction" – die trotz der Teilnehmerbeschränkung in keiner organisatorischen oder institutionellen Verbindung zur ILAB steht – Bücher, Karten und Grafik. Die Dauer der Versteigerung kann nach Angabe von Rockingstone frei gewählt werden. Versteigerung und Kauf sind auch unter einem Alias möglich. Bei erfolgreichen Verkäufen wird eine Kommission fällig (Käufer zahlen nichts). Neben einer einmaligen Anmeldegebühr in Höhe von 25 Euro werden von Rockingstone 2,50 Euro für jeden zur Auktion eingestellten Artikel berechnet.
Auf Anfrage von boersenblatt.net teilt Rockingstone-Chef Jelle Samshuijzen mit: "Traditionally there has always been a lot of trading between bookdealers themselves. Usually the top quality books that come on the market exchange hands a few times between dealers before it's actually bought by a collector. This auction also is an opportunity for booksellers to get rid of some stock where they don't have a customer for and get money to buy other books. Some special books that dealers can buy from people that offer books to them are not really within their own speciality and after they bought it, they rather sell it on quickly to another dealer. We expect there will be quite a few very rare books in the auction. We've had a lot of positive reactions immediately after our announcement."
