Bei Bloomsbury Auctions in New York kommt heute die Americana-Sammlung von Bruce McKinney, Betreiber von americanaexchange.com, zum Aufruf – jeder Band mit einem zu diesem Zweck entworfenen Exlibris (mit Datum der Auktion) versehen. Unter dem Titel "The De Orbe Novo Collection: Exploration in the New World 1492–1625" werden 81 frühe Americana angeboten.
Bemerkenswert ist an der Auktion, dass der Sammler neben den Schätzpreisen des Auktionshauses seine Einkaufspreise und -quellen (inkl. Kaufdatum) nennen lässt, und dies in seinem Vorwort als Testfall für den heutigen Antiquariatsmarkt wertet: "Translated, liceat decernere foro means 'let the market decide'. I have always preferred that the market set the price and we will see how this works. Should the sale achieve any enduring importance the bookplates will ensure copies are identified to future generations."
